Charity of the Year07/25/2011 |
It is with tremendous pleasure that I announce John Palmer Art's 2011 Charity of the Year: Outreach United. Outreach United is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) non-profit that raises much-needed funds and awareness for charitable causes in our beloved Space City. J.P. and I met with their Board over the weekend--and we were so impressed with their enthusiasm and excitement towards this honor--we knew on the spot that we had made the right decision. Well, you guys know that I live on Facebook. It has done so much for John's career and overall name recognition--I honestly cannot imagine our business functioning without it. Well, for some time know, I've been following along with how Outreach uses Facebook as well to promote their fundraising endeavors and partnerships with respected local businesses. And, I've just been mega-impressed. One thing that caught my attention recently was their raising funds for an organization devoted to assisting with the plight of homeless GLBT youth. I must tell you frankly--I didn't even know this was a problem. But, it's something that I too certainly believe is very worthy of help. John and I have lived very blessed lives. We were so fortunate to have families that loved us unconditionally and gave us a roof over our heads--so many people do not have that good fortune. You can understand why it's now so meaningful for us to help out in our small way. |
